    Shipping & Book Condition

    We take great care in preparing every order. Books with damage beyond minor cosmetic wear are never sent to customers. Each copy is individually wrapped in protective packaging to ensure safe transit.

    However, books are inherently delicate. Minor corner dings or light surface wear may occasionally occur during shipping and are considered normal. These small cosmetic imperfections do not qualify for refunds or exchanges.

    If your book arrives with significant damage (such as major tearing or severe structural denting), please contact us promptly and we will gladly arrange an exchange if copies are available.

    Please review our FAQ page prior to placing an order to ensure understanding our shipping and return/exchange policy. Upon submitting an order you agree to the terms found on our FAQ page.

    FAQ's

    Do you accept returns or exchanges?

    Because we are a small independent bookstore, we can only offer returns or exchanges on unopened, unused items within 14 days of purchase. Books must be in new condition, and Blind Date With a Book purchases are final (to keep the surprise intact!). If you ever have an issue or concern with an order, just reach out, we’re always happy to help.

    How long will my order take to ship?

    We aim to process and fulfill most orders within 1-3 business days. We have a very small team, so there are occasions in which orders can take up to 5-7 business days to be processed.

    If you pre-order a signed edition of a book, please keep in mind that the books do not come to us signed, therefore we have to schedule a signing with the author, and timing can vary widely depending on their availability. Sign up for our email newsletters to get updates on pre-orders, signing dates, and our estimated packing and shipping timeline.

    You’ll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number as soon as your package is on the way.

    Local? You can select in-store pickup at Spare Time Books during checkout and grab your order the same day we process it!

    Can I use a Bookshop Besties e-gift card in-store and online?

    Yes! Our e-gift cards work both on our website and in-store at Spare Time Books. Just enter the gift card code at checkout (online) or show the email at the register (in person).
